Spirit Of ’75

The video’s not in great shape, but it’s a great historical find: highlights of the Tampa Bay Rowdies‘ 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers in Soccer Bowl ’75, the North American Soccer League’s title game.




It would be the only outdoor title the Rowdies would ever win in the NASL. The new team is a little behind the 8-ball, it seems, as they haven’t nailed down a place to play or a coach or any players yet. Hopefully there are more memories to come.

    I love the old soccer videos. Keep it up. You could expand this idea to your podcast. Every couple of weeks, you could interview some one from the NASL who either made an impact on the game, the league, or you. Just a thought.

    Trust me: with this being the 25th anniversary of the NASL’s last season, there will be as much NASLophilia as Loney can stomach.
